Are Cyclists Viewed As Public Enemy No.1 By Other Road Users?
I don't know about you but I have experienced many situations over the years where other road users have taken exception to my use of the road. In most cases these experiences have amounted to nothing more than a heated exchange of words. I say most as I can remember one occasion many years ago where a car chased me by actually mounting the pavement to follow me. I can laugh about it now but at the time it was pretty scary. By the way I did manage to escape. However, for many cyclists it is no laughing matter having encounting far worse than I ever have. Check out an article written by Helen Pidd over at the Guardian for more.

Cool blog! I just stumbled on it and now I’m a dedicated reader. If you have free time you might want to check out sports shops.
Funny enough we had a conversation in my office just yesterday where one fellow cyclist asked: "Why are cyclists hated so much?"
Just last week I was heavily shouted at by some fat white van driver because I wouldn't let him push me on my bike in the gutter. The amount of f*** and c*** coming out of his mouth was astonishing! And petrifying, I was shaking afterwards.
I just don't get it. I keep fit (and therefore away from tax money spent on the national health service), I help to reduce pollution by not using motorised transport and apart from occasionally jumping traffic lights I stick to general traffic rules.
And in return I get eye to eye with some psychopathic manic who wished to beat me to death.
Any suggestions how we can improve our stand???
